This the second year in a row that we have won for
our entry.

JoJo Dunnigan was in charge of the CASC parade entry. She came up with the Good Old Days of Vinyl. She researched costume ideas and shared them with others interested in participating in the parade. Together all of them came up with wonderful costumes.

CASA Members Dance

at Chamber of Commerce Birthday

CASC and Volunteers Perform Shag Dance at the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce Birthday Celebration September 15, 2022 at the Duke Energy Center in Downtown Raleigh. With only a weeks’ notice, CASA president, Sandra Brann organized the event to publicize Shag dancing.

 

Participating were CASA members Sandra, Dee & Bill Gilmore, Marlin, Sara, Johnny, Lind, and Charles along with two junior staggers from Burlington; the Hurricanes mascot and Mr. & Mrs. Wuf from NC State.

Capital Area Shag Club Members Dance to Raise Funds to Fight Childhood Cancers

CASC members gathered at Quail Corners Shopping Center May 11, 2019 to support The Wide Open Charitable Foundation. The Wide Open Charitable Foundation’s mission is to raise funds for the research of childhood cancers while offering support and hope to families with children battling cancer. The foundation works with the UNC Children’s Hospital.

 

In the US, 1 in 285 children will be diagnosed with cancer. Cancer is the number one cause of death by disease in children. The average age of a child diagnosed with cancer is 6.

 

CASC members participating in the dance event were: Barbara Anderson, Mike Anderson, Russ Barbour, Tommy Carroll, Sophia Curtis, JO Dunnigan, Mac Edwards, Jeff Fleming, Mary Ann Higgins, Sara Patterson, Kenny Powers, John Poole, Katherine Springs, Richard Springs, Pam Tant and Tony Young.
